Art in Public Space: Our Collective Consciousness #3
30.04.2026 10:00 – 15:00
Professional Event – Sold Out
MAPS invites cultural directors, art consultants and curators from across Denmark to an inspirational day at MAPS in Køge on Thursday, 30 April 2026. By special invitation only.
The day will offer both Danish and international inspiration on how to create and anchor art in your city or local area — both strategically and on a very concrete level.
Meet the following representatives from MAPS:
Malene Natascha Ratcliffe, Director, MAPS
Kit Leunbach, Senior Curator and Head of Programme
Seolhui Lee, Senior Curator and Head of Creative Partnerships
Astrid Wang, Digital Project Manager
Camilla Rautenberg, Registrar and Head of Mediation, MAPS 24/7
All will present their strategic, curatorial and educational work with public art — and discuss MAPS as both a local and national centre for contemporary art, with a special focus on Tomorrows Public Art and Project APP24.
Experience three internationally acclaimed artists:
Susan Philipsz (SCT)
Simon Starling (GB)
Kirstine Roepstorff (DK)
The artists will share insights into their practices and discuss both temporary and permanent works in the public realm.
The programme will also feature a conversation between Director of Ny Carlsbergfondet Michael Thouber and Malene Natascha Ratcliffe, facilitated by journalist Lene Johansen. The conversation will open up broader national perspectives on public art — art throughout Denmark.
MAPS’ exhibition Story of Public Art will be open throughout the day. Senior Curator Kit Leunbach will lead a guided tour focusing on selected works.
The day will be hosted by journalist and moderator Lene Johansen.
The programme is curated and organised by editor and programme curator Karina Lykkesborg.
Price for the full-day programme including coffee, lunch refreshments and admission to the museum exhibitions: DKK 275.
