Labyrinths: Exhibition opening for kids and adults

Labyrinths is Ibrahim Mahama’s new monumental work for MAPS’ forecourt — created from reclaimed bricks sourced from some of Denmark’s historically and culturally significant buildings.

As part of the project, children and young people from Køge Municipality have been invited into Mahama’s artistic universe through workshops about materials, memory, and the stories objects carry with them. Through words, scratches, and personal stories, they have left tangible traces in the bricks.

Now, the bricks become part of the work, and we invite you to an exhibition opening for children and families with ice cream, popcorn, creative activities, and small surprises.

From 17.00, the exhibition opens to all, and we celebrate the opening together — children and adults alike.

Labyrinths is the first work in MAPS’ new programme series Tomorrow’s Public Art, through which the museum annually invites international artists to create new site-specific works in Køge. With the series, MAPS explores what public art can be today, and how public space can become a place where new futures are imagined, shared and tested.
