MAPS Movie Mingle: Ibrahim Mahama
Dear Home of Scars
12.06.2026 15:00 – 20:00
In Dear Home of Scars, visual artist Ibrahim Mahama returns to his hometown of Tamale in Northern Ghana and to Red Clay Studio, the cultural centre and art space he founded.
The film follows Mahama as he works on new installations involving decommissioned colonial railcars and the reconstruction of a historic railway track. Through these projects, Dear Home of Scars explores themes of memory, labour and the lasting traces of colonial infrastructure.
The film offers a unique insight into Mahama’s artistic practice and the ideas that shape his work.
Dear Home of Scars will be screened for the first time at MAPS as part of the opening of Labyrinths on 12 June 2026 and will subsequently be shown on selected Fridays throughout the year.
Still. Dear Home of Scars, 2024, single-channel video, colour, sound, 20 min.
The film is part of the Ammodo Docs series, co-produced by Een van de Jongens and directed by Marina Meijer.
