What Can Art in Public Space Do?
MAPS presents a new series consisting of three talks. The series is held in connection to our mapping of all public art in Denmark.
For the first time ever, all public artworks are being mapped, and this project gives MAPS the opportunity to communicate and highlight public art in an entirely new way.
The first talk will take place at MAPS on November 3. Here, we focus on how art in public space can create local understanding and pride, shape our shared environments, and strengthen connections between people—both now and in the future.
The program features talks and interviews with mayors Marie Stærke (A) from Køge Municipality, Kenneth Muhs (V) from Nyborg Municipality, and Simon Hansen (A) from Guldborgsund Municipality; artists SUPERFLEX and Lea Porsager; art advisor Tyra Dokkedal; and MAPS director Malene Natascha Ratcliffe. Journalist and author Lene Johansen will serve as interviewer and moderator. Visual artist and composer Ragnhild May will perform before the official start of the program.
We will be serving light refreshments including drinks and snacks, and you are welcome to stay until 18:30.
THE TALK IS SOLD OUT.
Note: There is a very limited number of seats available. Please remember that the event takes place on a Monday – the museum will be closed except for the duration of the conversation.
The project is supported by the New Carlsberg Foundation.
