MAPS Learning

MAPS gives you and your students experiences with art in public spaces – art that exists beyond the museum walls, in the places we all move through from urban environments and landscapes to digital platforms and media.

We focus on contemporary art that creates small disruptions in public spaces and gives us a jolt – a moment that makes us see our surroundings with fresh eyes. These small jolts are at the heart of our teaching. It’s about giving students new perspectives on public spaces – and thereby also on important societal issues.

The teaching also takes place inside the museum, following the same principles. Here, students learn through art and not just about art. They become artists themselves as they work creatively on their own projects, inspired by the methods and approaches of professional artists.

We experience art with our bodies and senses, starting from the students’ immediate experiences in their encounter with the artworks and the exhibition.
