MAPS Education
MAPS provides you and your students with experiences of art in public spaces – art that appears outside the walls of the museum, where we all have our every day life: from urban spaces and landscapes to digital platforms and media.
We focus on contemporary art that creates small disruptions in public spaces and gives us a little jolt, making us see our surroundings with fresh eyes. These small jolts are at the core of our teaching. It’s about giving students new perspectives on public spaces – and thus also on important societal issues.
The teaching also takes place inside the museum, following the same principles. Here, students also learn through art, not just about art. They become artists themselves as they work creatively on their own projects inspired by the methods and approaches of the artists.
We experience art with our bodies and senses, taking the students’ experiences here and now in encountering the works and the exhibition as our starting point. Students also learn about the many forms of artistic expression – from performance and sculpture to photography and digital art.
We adapt the teaching programme to the students’ learning levels and the school’s academic goals in the subjects Danish, visual arts, and social studies.
