THE INVISIBLE CITY WITH GORDON MATTA-CLARK (PROGRAMME AT REFSHALEØEN)
How do we tell stories about a place in constant change? In The Invisible City, we take students on a creative journey to Refshaleøen, inspired by one of the pioneers in art in public spaces, American artist Gordon Matta-Clark.
Refshaleøen is a very special area in Copenhagen, where old ships, industrial buildings, and wild nature meet. We use the camera to investigate and explore the secret, the forgotten, the unknown, and the emerging in the district.
Students are introduced to Gordon Matta-Clark’s experimental art and work creatively with photography as an artistic expression. The program invites students to see the city in new ways and create visual stories that connect the past, present, and future.

The Everyday Theater

THE EVERYDAY THEATER – PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP AT COPNEHAGEN CENTRAL STATION
To what extent is our behavior governed by social norms and rules? And what roles do we each play in “the everyday theater”?
Join us at Copenhagen Central Station, where we transform the station into a living theater stage. We use fun performance exercises and curious observations to explore how the busy life of the station resembles a play, where everyone has fixed roles and routines that are repeated day after day.
We dive into the theater and artist collective Rimini Protokoll’s performance from Central Station and recreate small scenes from it. Students take turns being the audience and “actors” who bend the invisible rules with small, unexpected actions. How do the other commuters react? How does it feel to stand out? The program provides students with insight into performance art and encourages reflection on how our behavior is shaped by social norms and rules in public spaces.
The program starts under the big clock at Copenhagen Central Station, where the class will meet a MAPS instructor.
