MAPS is the first museum in Denmark to join the international network Becoming CLIMAVORE. The goal is to introduce the sustainable eating habits of the future into cultural institutions worldwide. In collaboration with the recognized Danish chef Mads Hermansen, MAPS has developed a CLIMAVORE menu, ensuring that the food we serve at MAPS contributes to protecting our shared environment rather than depleting it. The menu changes with the seasons and features sustainable, local ingredients such as Ingrid peas and other legumes that enhance soil fertility, as well as mussels and seaweed, which cleanse the ocean and reduce excess nitrogen in their surroundings.
MAPS regularly hosts food markets, workshops, talks, and communal dining events centered around sustainable food culture, in collaboration with producers such as Køge Fælles Jord, Skyttegårdens Østershatte, Dansk Tang, and Reduced.

‘To be CLIMAVORE means to eat with climate consciousness.’
Across Europe and North America, art institutions such as Tate and the Serpentine Galleries have joined Becoming CLIMAVORE. To be CLIMAVORE means to eat with climate consciousness. Just as one might identify as vegetarian or carnivore, CLIMAVORE represents a way of eating with consideration in response to climate change and the consequences of industrial farming and mass food production.

Becoming CLIMAVORE was initiated by the artist duo Cooking Sections, who were nominated for the Turner Prize in 2021. Their vision is to build better communities around food culture through collaborations between cultural institutions, farmers, nutritionists, scientists, and restaurants worldwide.
